Votes at a glance: Dubois County commissioners approve ordinances and routine county business
Summary
At their Sept. 15 meeting the commissioners unanimously approved Ordinance 2025-11 (Industrial Park Road speed limit changes), Ordinance 2025-12 (stop sign addition in Bainbridge Township) and several routine contracts and declarations including a bridge-design agreement, monument lighting, the Deaconess Clinic contract (with a wording change), surplus declarations and a GIS data-sharing agreement.
The Dubois County Board of Commissioners approved a slate of ordinances, contracts and routine actions at its Sept. 15 meeting. All recorded motions carried unanimously.
Key votes and approvals included:
- Ordinance 2025-11: Amending speed limits on portions of Industrial Park Road, updating Schedule II of the county traffic code. The ordinance was read into the record and adopted by the board.
- Ordinance 2025-12: Adding a stop sign at the intersection of Todd Lane and Beth Lane in Bainbridge Township; the ordinance is effective when Dubois County places the stop sign on the west approach of Todd Lane.
- Agreement with American Structurepoint: Approve an independent review of in-house bridge design methods and a superstructure template, not to exceed $15,000.
- POW-MIA monument lighting: Approve Fischer Electric quote not to exceed $1,200 for a 15-watt LED light for the courthouse monument.
- Deaconess Clinic at Work contract: Approve the contract pending a change of the term “owner” to “elected officials.”
- Dilapidated building case (Slotten property): Close the unsafe building case with Mr. Rob Slotten; a remaining $100 fine is due by Oct. 2, 2025.
- Surplus property declaration: Declare specified county equipment and devices as surplus.
- GIS Limited Use Agreement: Approve a WTH GIS Limited Use Agreement with Dubois Rural Electric Cooperative to exchange and share GIS data with no fee.
Other items recorded included acceptance of the Treasurer’s monthly report, a report on the Sept. 12 tax sale (five of 11 properties sold, county collected $339,452.00 with $321,301.66 surplus) and consensus to proceed with switching Recorder software to Fidlar Technologies funded from the Recorder’s Perpetuation fund.
All motions were carried unanimously by the three commissioners present: Chad A. Blessinger, Nick Hostetter and Serice Stenftenagel. The board recorded no roll-call tallies beyond unanimous approval in the minutes.
