H.E.L.P. rehab bids opened; Region 15 warns of tight contractor interest

At the advertised 8:30 a.m. bid opening, Huntingburg Mechanical submitted bids of $16,500 for the Arnold home and $17,500 for the Moore home. The bids were taken under advisement and may be awarded at the commissioners’ next meeting. Jenny Matheis of the Region 15 Planning Commission said the H.E.L.P. program must be completed by the end of 2025 and that the county has seen a lack of contractor interest for the projects; she noted additional bid acceptance dates of Sept. 15 and Oct. 6, 2025.
County staff did not award contracts at the meeting and will consider the bids at a future session; the record does not specify which homes are prioritized for award should funding and contractor capacity allow.
