The Dubois County Board of Commissioners unanimously adopted Ordinance 2025-07 on Aug. 4, 2025, defining which county employees may take action on county contracts and establishing related procedural requirements.
County Attorney Gregory S. Schnarr presented the ordinance, which was drafted in conjunction with Indiana Code §36-2-2.9-15 and the county’s existing Ordinance 2024-12. The ordinance defines “contract” for county purposes and requires that contracts be executed in the name of the county and include standard contractual language referenced in the county’s exhibit.
Section 4 names the positions authorized, subject to board approval, to act on contracts: the County Engineer, the Administrative Director of Community Corrections, the Director of the Health Department and the Human Resources Generalist. The ordinance also directs that contracts be reviewed by the County Attorney and Commissioner President and uploaded to the IN.gov Gateway via the County Auditor.
The motion to adopt Ordinance 2025-07 carried unanimously. The ordinance goes into effect after passage and completion of any other legal requirements cited in the text.
The action formalizes which staff can execute or take action on contracts when the board grants approval, aiming to comply with recent statutory changes and to standardize contract processing in the county.
