Dubois County approves routine contracts, surplus items and a conflict waiver; auditor reports annual financials

At its Feb. 17 meeting the Dubois County Commissioners approved several routine administrative items and heard departmental updates.
Auditor Sandra L. Morton presented the 2025 Annual Financial Report for review and brought forward a TelecomCare Agreement with Software Assurance from Matrix Integration to support the county’s Mitel telephony system at a cost of $18,500; the board approved the agreement. Morton also reported that Enterprise Fleet Management, which had previously paused review of the county fleet, is now willing to proceed and the board gave consensus to continue provided it imposes no additional work on the Auditor's office.
The board approved surplus declarations presented by department heads, including a Treasurer’s Office HP Pavilion laptop and a highway office broken calculator. Shannon Miller of Regional Land Title Company received approval to use the Courthouse Lawn for an adult Easter egg hunt on April 1, 2026, and the board approved a road‑usage request from Girls on the Run of Southwest Indiana to use West Ackerman Road for a 5K on April 25, 2026.
County Attorney Gregory Schnarr presented a Waiver of Conflict of Interest requested by the insurance carrier defense attorney in a civil suit naming the county; Schnarr recommended approval and the board approved the waiver. Investigator Rick Chambers of the Prosecutor’s Office received a 10‑year service award, and Prosecutor Beth Schroeder publicly thanked him for his dedication.
Public comments included remarks from Randy Bartlet, who said AES answered questions at a Holland town‑hall meeting and provided those answers to Commissioner Blessinger, and mentioned proposed state HB 133 concerning land use for farmers.
