Dubois County Commissioners on May 5 heard presentations from three planning firms outlining differing approaches to a countywide comprehensive plan and received an offer of participation from a local nonprofit.
Scott Siefker and Sam Wiser of Taylor Siefker Williams introduced their firm’s approach and philosophy for creating the county plan. Jack Woods of VERIDUS Group (also known as Civitas Strategies) presented his company’s timeline and methods. Philip Roth of American StructurePoint described that firm’s vision2action approach. Presentations were introductory; commissioners did not take an immediate procurement vote at the meeting.
Colton Pipenger, director of Dubois Strong, told commissioners he is willing to serve on the Comprehensive Plan Steering Committee and to assist the county on projects if needed. The county indicated it will use a steering committee in the planning process. Further steps — including selection of a consultant, detailed scope, public engagement scheduling and contract execution — were not finalized at the meeting.
The presentations provided competing frameworks and timelines for outreach and plan production; commissioners will consider next steps, including coordination with Dubois Strong and potential consultant selection at a future meeting.
