Tri-County Public Defenders report cash-flow concerns; county attorney to review contract

David Gemignani, representing Tri-County Public Defenders, told commissioners Aug. 4 that his office has submitted monthly profit-and-loss statements but has not received anticipated state funding. He said he is concerned about financial status reports (FSRs) and asked about the status of the county contract.

Chairman Tom Tikkanen said County Attorney Roger Zappa is reviewing the proposed contract and that more questions may follow depending on how the state processes the FSRs. No contract action or funding decision was made at the work session; commissioners asked that the legal review continue so the item can be addressed at a future meeting if necessary.
