Summary
WUPPDR representatives told the board they have two Michigan H.O.P.E. projects needing $28,500 in county CDBG assistance; the board asked staff to prepare a recommendation for its Aug. 12 meeting.
At the Aug. 4 work session, Lisa McKenzie reported that WUPPDR will send Melissa Davis to the Aug. 12 board meeting and summarized two homeowner projects that need county Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) assistance to fully use Michigan H.O.P.E. funding. One home has a $5,500 shortfall for roof repairs due to rotting wood beneath the roof; a second home needs $23,000 to address mold and failing ceiling tiles. McKenzie said the county’s CDBG fund has more than $100,000 available and asked the county CDBG committee to consider the $28,500 request.
Chairman Tom Tikkanen asked McKenzie, Lisa Mattila and Finance Manager Alex to provide the board with a recommendation at the Aug. 12 meeting. McKenzie encouraged the county to apply for future funding rounds because money is available.
No county funds were committed during the Aug. 4 work session; commissioners directed staff to return a formal recommendation.
