The Stark County Weed Control Board agreed on April 16 to schedule two full weeks of cost-share appointments from May 12 through May 23 and to limit appointments for the remainder of the summer to Mondays through Thursdays after 10:00 a.m.
Board members said the change responds to seasonal staffing shortages and a shift in cost-share participation from large-tract landowners to smaller-tract owners who may need more guidance on herbicide application and weed control. The board instructed staff to include the appointment schedule and related details in a newsletter that will be sent to Stark County landowners at the end of April.
Meeting minutes indicate Conway and Andrew will operate a truck spray unit and Travis Jepson will operate a side-by-side unit when not occupied with cost-share appointments, with the department prioritizing ROW spraying over cost-share work.
The board did not record a formal roll-call vote on the scheduling decision; the minutes describe it as an agreement among attendees. The meeting adjourned at 10:40 a.m.
