At its March 6 meeting in Marshall, the FireKeepers Local Revenue Sharing Board approved the 2025 distribution timeline and heard that the Net Win payment for 2025 was almost 3% lower than the prior year, Calhoun County Administrator/Controller Kelli Scott said.
Why it matters: The timeline sets deadlines and hearings that govern how Net Win funds will be distributed to local governments and eligible applicants this year, including a public check distribution event, application windows for Tier II awards, and a June preliminary budget presentation to the Board.
Scott told board members the Tier II application notice would be published in the Advisor, Enquirer, and Shopper within a week and that County Administration will email notices to the governments listed in the Board’s by‑laws. The Board approved the timeline by voice vote.
Key dates presented by County Administration include: Feb. 14, 2025 (Net Win payment received); March 18, 2025, 11:00 a.m. (check distribution ceremony at FireKeepers Casino Hotel Event Center, with Derek King scheduled to accept the check on behalf of the Board); by March 15, publication of the Tier II notice; April 17, 2025, 5:00 p.m. (Tier II application deadline); May 8, 2025 (hearings on Tier II applications); and June 17, 2025 (County Administration to present a preliminary distribution spreadsheet and proposed disbursements after consideration of Tier II decisions). The Board also noted plans to consider Tier 3 taxable-value calculations and a Tier 4 resolution determining distribution method in June; some discretionary Tier 4 dates were left blank and not specified in the record.
The Tier II category ("Specific Actual Increased Costs Incurred") will follow the published notice and the May 8 hearing schedule; applicants should follow the notice for filing instructions and deadlines. The Board approved the timeline and related process by motion (moved by Member King, seconded by Member Wolfersberger); the record shows a voice vote and the motion carried.
The Board’s action sets the procedural schedule for grant notices, application reviews and the May hearings that will inform the final distribution amounts to local governments and eligible entities.
