Grant County commissioners approve $131,293.50 in bills, adopt policies and approve property sales

The Grant County Commissioners on July 17 approved county bills totaling $131,293.50 and carried a string of administrative actions including policy adoptions, property sales and a construction change order.
Commissioner Marty Meyer moved to approve the bill list; Commissioner Al Roy Hochhalter seconded. The board recorded roll-call votes of Meyer—aye, Hochhalter—aye and Chairman Alton Zenker—aye. The vendor list included a $69,074.00 payment to Nutrien Ag Solutions and a $26,294.52 payment to Farstad Oil Inc., among other items. The board’s minutes list the total as $131,293.50.
The board adopted two policies recommended by the State Auditor’s Office. Auditor Sara Meier presented the items; the board adopted a Fraud Prevention and Investigation Policy and a Capital Asset Policy after motions by Meyer and second by Hochhalter. Both motions passed by unanimous roll-call vote.
Separately, the commissioners approved Change Order No. 1 for Project BRJ-0019(020), adding silt curtains at a cost of $1,250. Commissioner Al Roy Hochhalter moved the measure; Commissioner Meyer seconded and the board voted unanimously to approve the change order.
The county also renewed certificate of deposit #0238 at Dakota Community Bank & Trust for 24 months at a 4.00% rate after a motion from Meyer and second from Hochhalter. Two 100% disabled veteran tax credit abatements for parcel 12533800 (tax years 2022 and 2023) were approved on motions by Meyer and seconds by Hochhalter; roll-call votes were recorded as aye by all present.
The board approved two property sales for nominal consideration. By separate motions, commissioners approved selling parcel 62095000 (Lots 1–3, Block 11, New Leipzig Original) to the City of New Leipzig for $5.00 and parcel 61038000 (north 37.5' of Lot 2, Block 1, Shanley Addition, City of Elgin) to the City of Elgin for $5.00. The minutes record the votes for both sales as Meyer—aye and Zenker—aye; the minutes do not show a recorded vote for Hochhalter on those two items.
Chairman Zenker adjourned the meeting at 1:28 p.m. The board listed August 7 and 21, 2024 as its next regular meeting dates and scheduled the Grant County 2025 budget hearing for Sept. 11 at 9:00 a.m. MT.
