Nelson County commissioners propose contract with East Dakota Steam Clean & Restoration for building and grounds supervision

Nelson County commissioners voted unanimously Sept. 19, 2024, to propose a contract agreement with Jon and Shari McLean of East Dakota Steam Clean & Restoration to perform the duties of the county’s open Building & Grounds Supervisor position.

Chairman Cody Johnson opened the special meeting at 8:30 a.m. and conducted roll call, which confirmed Commissioners Aaron Mork, Mike Haugland and Cameron Swenson in the room and Steve Forde participating via Microsoft Teams. Commissioner Cameron Swenson moved to approve the meeting agenda; Commissioner Aaron Mork seconded and the motion carried.

The commission conducted interviews with four candidates for the Building & Grounds Supervisor opening: Timothy Hoffarth, Oscar Miranda, Jon McLean and Shari McLean (representing East Dakota Steam Clean & Restoration), and Stephen Johnston. Commissioners discussed each individual’s qualifications and considered structural options for filling the role, including hiring a single employee or arranging a contract relationship with the McLeans’ business.

Following discussion, Commissioner Aaron Mork moved and Commissioner Cameron Swenson seconded a motion to propose a contract agreement with Jon and Shari McLean of East Dakota Steam Clean & Restoration. On a roll call vote, all members voted “Yes,” and the motion carried unanimously.
