Morton County Commission approves social media policy, special-assessment loan signings and travel requests

At its Sept. 23 meeting, the Morton County Commission approved a package of routine administrative items, including adoption of Policy 800-003 (the county Social Media Policy), authorization for the county auditor to sign loan documents on multiple special assessment projects, out-of-state travel requests for county personnel and several abatements.
Commissioner Morrell moved and Commissioner Tokach seconded to approve Policy 800-003; the motion carried with all commissioners voting aye. Commissioner Tokach moved and Commissioner Morrell seconded to authorize Auditor Dawn R. Rhone to sign loan documents for the special assessment projects Mantahni, Entzel 2nd-9th, Prairie Ridge Estates, Yellow Rose Estates and Howe’ln Wolf Estates (Special Assessment numbers 2490, 2586, 2589 and 2588); that motion also carried unanimously.
Other routine approvals included Commissioner Buckley moving (seconded by Commissioner Morrell) to approve out-of-state travel for seven Highway Department employees to attend the 40th Annual Local Roads Conference in Sioux Falls, S.D., Oct. 20-22, 2025, and Commissioner Tokach moving (seconded by Commissioner Morrell) to approve out-of-state travel for Recorder Seefeld to attend the PRIA conference in Virginia Beach, Va., Feb. 24-26, 2026; both motions passed with all voting aye. The commission approved abatements #7150-7151 and #7152 in separate motions, each carried unanimously.
The commission also approved bills and payroll as moved by Commissioner Tokach and seconded by Commissioner Morrell. The meeting record notes total county funds expended from Sept. 12 through Sept. 23, 2025 equaled $1,019,353.29; a detailed list of expenditures is available for public inspection at the Morton County Auditor’s Office during regular business hours.
The commission adjourned at 7:55 p.m.
