Nelson County commissioners approve minutes, financial statements, an abatement and continue free in‑courthouse notary services

The board approved the Nov. 7 meeting minutes on a motion by Commissioner Cameron Swenson, seconded by Commissioner Aaron Mork, with all members voting yes. The agenda — which included an addition for notary services — was approved on a motion by Commissioner Steve Forde and seconded by Commissioner Cameron Swenson; Commissioners Mork, Haugland, Swenson and Chairman Cody Johnson voted yes and Commissioner Forde voted no.
Tax Director Michelle Linstad presented an abatement; Commissioner Steve Forde moved and Commissioner Mike Haugland seconded approval of the abatement on parcel 08-0000-01836-700, which passed unanimously. Auditor Nathan Parks then presented the county's financial statements for October; Commissioner Aaron Mork moved and Commissioner Haugland seconded approval and the motion passed on a roll call vote with all members voting yes. Commissioners later approved the presented bills on a motion by Commissioner Forde and second by Commissioner Mork; the motion carried unanimously.
Regarding notary services, the commission directed staff to continue providing notarial services inside the courthouse at no charge and to discontinue offsite travel to notarize. The minutes do not identify a schedule for notary availability or the staff responsible for performing notarizations.
