Grant County adopts inclement-weather handbook amendment and 2024 burn restrictions

The Grant County Board of Commissioners voted March 6 to amend Section 406 (Inclement Weather) of the county employee handbook and to adopt a 2024 Fire Emergency & Burn Restrictions Declaration.
Patrick Diehl, the county’s Emergency Manager and 911 Coordinator, presented the proposed amendment to Section 406, explaining the change accounts for courthouse closure decisions when area schools are not in session. Commissioner Al Roy Hochhalter moved to accept the amendment; Commissioner Marty Meyer seconded the motion and the board approved it by roll-call vote.
Diehl also presented the county’s 2024 Fire Emergency & Burn Restrictions Declaration. Commissioner Meyer moved to adopt the declaration; Hochhalter seconded and the board voted unanimously to adopt the burn-restriction declaration.
The minutes record the motions and unanimous roll-call votes; the declarations and handbook amendment are recorded for implementation by county administration and emergency management.
