Airport authority objects to proposed cell tower near Weydahl Field; county tables decision

Officials from the Dunn County Airport Authority told commissioners on Jan. 22 they were concerned a proposed cell tower near Weydahl Field would be located at the end of the runway and would impede the airport’s planned northward expansion.
Mike Schollmeyer and Jeff Jacobson of the Airport Authority outlined the operational impacts the current tower location could create. John Burchfield of LCC Telecom Services, appearing via Teams, said he had no additional concerns beyond what the airport officials raised and asked that the matter be treated as discussion only so the parties could explore alternate locations.
The record notes the conditional use permit (CUP) for the tower has already been approved; the State's Attorney recommended engaging both sides to find options. Commissioner Kleemann moved, and Commissioner Pelton seconded, to table the matter until the Feb. 18 commission meeting and to withhold issuing any building permit in the meantime; the motion passed unanimously.
The board did not vote on relocation options at the meeting and requested additional review and coordination before taking further action.
