Dunn County commissioners approve road payments, utility permits and add Food Pantry to county insurance policy

Dunn County commissioners on Jan. 22 approved several road- and operations-related items, including a $67,640.42 pay estimate to Bechtold Paving, multiple utility permits and modifications to county insurance coverage for a nonprofit Food Pantry.
Jeremy Wood of Northern Plains Engineering presented pay estimate #6 for work on 98th Ave. & 4th St. SW in the amount of $67,640.42; the board approved payment (motion by Commissioner Pelton, seconded by Commissioner Heiser). Road Superintendent Terry Schwartzenberger presented utility permits for Roughrider Electric (an underground crossing) and a pipeline crossing for Endeavor; the board approved the permits.
Schwartzenberger also reported the Food Pantry project will be completed in February and said NDIRF suggested the pantry be placed under the county’s NDIRF policy for building and liability coverage to reduce its costs. The board voted to add the Food Pantry to the county policy with the pantry reimbursing the county.
Auditor Sally Whittingham presented a package of 2025 budget amendments spanning multiple departments. The amendments listed in the meeting record include: Governing Board $16,321.78; Auditor $22,487.46; Communications $9,048.91; SWMCCC $118,722.72; Park Board $36,045; VSO $92.66; Emergency Management $99,222.11; Capital Projects $515,665.75 and others. Commissioners approved the amendments by roll call.
The record also noted upcoming bid dates and project statuses: Manning Waterline Improvement Project bid opening set for Feb. 4, 2026; 103rd Ave. anticipated bid opening Feb. 18, 2026; Pinewood Meadows and 3T Ave. projects completed pending punch-list items.
