Road supervisors report completed storage building, hire and equipment needs; commissioners direct bids for mower

Road Supervisor Terry Johnston and Road Foreman Sheldon Romfo updated the Cavalier County Board of Commissioners on Oct. 1 about ongoing road work and equipment needs.
Romfo told the board the storage building project in Vang is complete and that the Sarles district hired a snowplow operator. The board discussed replacing a pickup for the Sarles district but took no action. Commissioners discussed contracting mowing of abandoned cemeteries in Seivert and Waterloo Townships; Commissioner Stanley Dick said he would seek someone with a larger mower to contract mowing in Seivert Township.
The board heard that the Wood mower has sustained damage while used across multiple districts (Munich, Hannah/Sarles and Langdon). Commissioners directed staff to solicit bids for a new mower and required operators to begin using maintenance and inspection forms.
No formal purchase motions were recorded at the meeting; the board’s direction authorizes staff to pursue bids.
