Riverview Board: student liaison reports strong start; district awaits state budget and notes audit completion

The Riverview Board of Education heard a series of updates at its Sept. 23, 2025 meeting, including a report from the RCHS student liaison and administrative comments from Superintendent JJ Hatzl.
The student liaison reported a strong start to the school year at RCHS, highlighting active clubs and sports, an open house turnout, a FCCLA volunteer tree-planting at Vreeland Park, an honor-roll ice-cream social planned for next week, PSAT testing scheduled for Oct. 8 and parent-teacher conferences on Oct. 9 (coinciding with a FAFSA meeting). Homecoming spirit week will begin with Powder Puff on Oct. 12.
Superintendent JJ Hatzl told the board the district is still waiting for the state budget and thanked operations, facilities and maintenance staff and Gary Kennedy for their work on district buildings. Hatzl also reported that the business office completed its annual audit. Hatzl noted a November ballot proposal and directed anyone with questions to contact the District Office.
President Bohr used the discussion period to thank administrators, building staff and community volunteers, including Riverview United Methodist Church, for supporting students and distributing school supplies. Bohr also specifically thanked early-childhood staff cited in the minutes for their work supporting young learners, and praised high school volunteers who helped plant trees at Vreeland Park.
