Jefferson Davis Parish Tourist Commission accepts resignation, appoints Kayla Doga to fill vacancy

Sheila Chapman, chairman of the Jefferson Davis Parish Tourist Commission, called the June 11, 2024 meeting to order. Greg Marcantel led the prayer and Austin Bertrand led the pledge.
The commission voted unanimously to accept the resignation of board member Buffina Crochet, effective May 31, 2024. Katelyn Little moved the motion to accept the resignation, and Kori Myers seconded; the motion passed without objection.
Immediately afterward, the commission unanimously approved a motion by Austin Bertrand, seconded by Ronnie Petree, to nominate and appoint Kayla Doga to fill Crochet’s unexpired term. The minutes record the newly appointed member’s term as expiring on Sept. 30, 2025.
Commissioners also considered the 2023–2024 budget. According to the minutes, a motion by Katelyn Little, seconded by Austin Bertrand, to “approve not amend the 2023-2024 Budget” passed unanimously; the record indicates the commission approved the 2023–2024 budget without making amendments at the meeting.
The commission announced its next regular meeting will be Tuesday, Aug. 13, 2024, at the Tourist Commission administration office. A motion to adjourn, made by Austin Bertrand and seconded by Katelyn Little, passed unanimously. Creed Romano, CEO/President, certified the minutes at the close of the record, writing, “I, Creed Romano, certify that the above and foregoing constitute the minutes of the meeting of the commissioners of the Jeff Davis Tourist Commission held on June 11, 2024.”
The actions taken at the June 11 meeting—the acceptance of Crochet’s resignation, Doga’s appointment to the unexpired term, and approval of the 2023–2024 budget as presented—are reflected in the minutes and will be part of the commission’s official record.
