The Jeff Davis Parish Economic Development Commission unanimously ratified a letter of support July 10 for the JDP School Board in support of the Bureau of Justice Assistance STOP School Violence Grant after a request from Chairman Ronnie Petree.
Chairman Ronnie Petree asked the board to ratify the letter; Mike Heinen moved in support, Dr. Shane Fontenot seconded, and the motion passed unanimously. The minutes record the board’s ratification but do not include the text of the letter or any additional conditions.
At the start of the meeting the commission also approved the amended agenda, accepted minutes from June 12 and June 26, 2024, and accepted the financials as presented. Greg Marcantel presented the financials; boardmembers voted to accept the budget as presented. The minutes note Mike Heinen discussed requesting increased funding from the Landfill Commission but that no action was taken on that matter.
Chairman Petree appointed Judy Petry and Carter Prejean to the Office Evaluation Committee and discussed plans for a board retreat and ITEP training. The commission adjourned after a motion by Judy Petry, seconded by Dr. Shane Fontenot.
The minutes include a certification line signed by Creed Romano certifying the minutes and listing a certification date of August 14, 2024, while the recorded meeting date is July 10, 2024.
