The Jeff Davis Parish Economic Development Commission voted unanimously July 10 to move into a contract related to an award letter for the LED Development Ready Communities Grant after presentation by Creed Romano, CEO/President of Jeff Davis Economic Development.
Creed Romano presented the award letter and described ongoing economic development efforts. Romano also told the board that ICE Industries intends to locate in Jeff Davis Parish and updated members on the AYPA ITEP initiative and a recent JDP/One Acadiana visit to Lacassine. Romano said he is working on a separate “Deep South” project and pursuing renewable-energy prospects including Silicone Ranch Solar and RES Global Renewable Energy Solutions.
Boardmember Mike Heinen made the motion to move into the LED grant contract; Judy Petry seconded and the motion passed unanimously. The commission accepted the motion as a formal step to advance the grant-related contract process.
The action is procedural authorization to proceed with a contract consistent with the grant award; the minutes do not record further contract terms or a vote tally by individual member name. The commission did not record additional conditions or a public comment on the award during the meeting.
The meeting was held at First Guaranty Bank in Jennings and was called to order by Chairman Ronnie Petree.
