Polk County commissioners approve $169,737 equipment purchase, declare three vehicles surplus

Chairman Hal Floyd called the meeting to order at 5:15 p.m. and the board first approved the meeting agenda on a motion by Commissioner Chuck Thaxton, seconded by Commissioner Linda Liles. The motion passed unanimously.
The board then considered a planned equipment purchase tied to the Abner Drive Drainage Project and the FY2025 capital improvement plan. Commissioners approved the purchase of a Sany 225 track hoe from Central Atlanta Tractor for $169,737.00 as a State Contract acquisition funded from Capital Fund 340. Commissioner Gary Martin moved to approve the purchase and Commissioner Michael Gravett seconded; the motion passed unanimously. The meeting record notes $1,000,000.00 had been appropriated to Capital Fund 340 for the project and that, to date, only engineering services had been expended.
Public Works Director Dion Senn requested that three county vehicles be declared surplus and sold via the online auction site GovDeals. The vehicles listed were a 1991 Emergency One International (VIN: 1HTSDNXN5MH381124), a 2007 Ford Crown Victoria (VIN: 2FAFP71W27X125844), and a 2013 Dodge Charger (VIN: 2C3CDXAT2DH670500). Commissioner Chuck Thaxton moved to declare the list surplus; Commissioner Linda Liles seconded and the motion passed unanimously.
During commissioner comments, County Manager Matt Denton said the March 4 regular meeting agenda would be "item heavy" and that everything appeared to be in order to move forward with the Airport project. The called meeting was adjourned on a motion by Commissioner Gary Martin, seconded by Commissioner Linda Liles; that motion also passed unanimously.
Actions taken at the meeting were recorded as motions and unanimous votes; no formal roll-call votes with individual dissenting votes were noted in the meeting minutes.
