At the May 13 meeting a resident, Dorian Wright, asked the commission about property taxes for homeowners who have paid off their mortgages. Wright said she believes that once a home is paid in full the owner should no longer be required to pay property taxes. Vice Chairman David Kinsey responded that the matter would be most appropriate for the Tax Assessor Board and suggested Wright raise the concern there.
Wright thanked the commissioners for the opportunity to speak. The commission did not take action on the request during the meeting.
