Quitman County manager reports EMS activity, new LRA funds and CDBG submission; paving delayed

County Manager Jason Weeks reported several operational and funding updates at the Georgetown–Quitman County Commission meeting on May 13.
Weeks said March EMS run data showed 23 total calls, 11 transports, four refusals and seven cancellations, with an average response time of 8.5 minutes. He added the county provided mutual aid 10 times and received mutual aid once during the month. Weeks also told commissioners that paperwork for a Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) application for a community center addition has been submitted to RVRC.
On funding for roads, Weeks said the county received an additional $260,000 in Local Road Assistance (LRA) funds that can be used alongside LMIG dollars for paving or repairs. A resident in public comment asked for an update on the Lower Lumpkin Road paving contract; Weeks said the contractor was behind because of weather and would contact the county when he had a start date. Separately, Weeks reported local contractor Dee Willis repaired a tree-root–damaged section of Jacqueline Drive and was finishing work on Sandra Drive after recent rain damage.
Commissioners did not take formal action on the funding items during the meeting beyond noting the receipts and submissions reported by the manager.
