Quitman County denies zoning change for Virginia Drive property

The Georgetown–Quitman County Commission on May 13 accepted the Planning & Zoning Board recommendation and denied a request to change zoning for property associated with Mr. Dothan Hill on Virginia Drive.
During the public hearing, Blaine Hoskins of RVRC told commissioners that the Planning & Zoning Board reviewed the application and recommended denial of the proposed change from residential to commercial. A neighboring property owner said the dirt road could not safely handle increased traffic and raised concerns the change would lead to trespass onto adjoining property. After closing the hearing, Commissioner Willie H. Bussey moved to accept the Planning & Zoning Board recommendation to deny the application; Commissioner Richard Baggett seconded and the motion passed with votes recorded for Bussey, Kinsey, Baggett and Green.
The commission did not adopt any conditions or alternatives to the denial at the meeting. The R8-2025 resolution concerning County Road 15 (a separate agenda item) was listed on the agenda but was not discussed.
