Separately, at a called meeting April 1 the commission approved Resolution R7-2025, agreeing to provide a county cash match of $21,044 for the CDBG senior-center addition. Chairman Carvel Lewis read the resolution and Commissioner Kinsey moved to approve. The motion passed with Yes votes from Bussey, Kinsey, Baggett and Green.
County Manager Jason Weeks reported that architects from 2WR (Alex Griggs) and a representative from RVRC (Blaine Hoskins) toured the Community Center and prepared sketches to inform the CDBG application. Weeks said RVRC requested supporting letters from groups that receive commodities at the center; Family Connections and the county’s enrichment-service coordinator were asked to provide letters describing the center’s role and the disadvantages of lacking a covered distribution area.
