Chairman Steve Taylor recognized the Department of Leisure Service (DLS) Fins swim team during the Aug. 8 meeting and DLS Director Keith Morris introduced coach Jennifer Shoultz.
Shoultz thanked the commissioners for their support and introduced the Fins’ state champions by name: Liam Heitzman (won the 25 free and 25 butterfly), Coley Beth Croth (won the 50 butterfly), and Madi Shoultz (won the 50 breaststroke). She said other swimmers placed in the meet as well and thanked the commission for supporting the program.
DLS Director Keith Morris also reported that 325 children have registered for football, soccer and cheerleading and thanked commissioners for SPLOST contributions that helped complete department projects.
The recognition was added to the agenda at Chair Steve Taylor’s request and was carried in the meeting’s routine approvals.
