Smith said the CAD cloud conversion cost is $20,694 plus a one-time $5,000 upgrade fee. The board approved the upgrade and the use of impact fees to pay for the purchase.
Separately, EMA requested grant-authority and a local match to acquire four electronic message boards to display real-time alerts and event information. Cain Bentley described year-round uses and noted optional camera and radar attachments; commissioners focused on keeping costs down and accepted SD-card recording (not cellular transmission) as the baseline. The board approved purchasing the Wanyeco message boards from fund balance for $22,505.50.
Commissioners discussed operational availability and whether the devices could be deployed for extended road closures; staff said the boards are designed to be used 20–30 days at a time without external power.
What happens next: The county will finalize contracts and integrate the CAD cloud upgrade; EMA will coordinate placement and usage policies for the message boards and report back on grant match and deployment plans.
