Roundup: Pierce County commissioners approve routine agenda items and extend engineer contract

The Pierce County Board of Commissioners made several routine approvals and recognitions at its March 5 meeting.
Commissioner Graham Raley asked to amend agenda item #11 to correct an effective date; Commissioner Harold Rozier moved to accept the amendment, Commissioner Randy Dixon seconded and the board approved the change. The board then approved the meeting agenda on a motion by Commissioner Randy Dixon and the Feb. 6, 2024 minutes on a motion by Commissioner Randy Dixon, seconded by Commissioner Graham Raley.
Recreation Department Director Maureen Brown introduced the 8U girls Class C basketball district winners, and Commissioner Harold Rozier recognized Jacob Dixon of the Road Department as County Employee of the Month.
The board voted to continue with the county's Engineer of Record for the term Jan. 1, 2024 through Dec. 31, 2024 on a motion by Commissioner David Lowman, seconded by Commissioner Graham Raley. County Manager Raphel Maddox gave a brief manager's report praising staff work and service delivery.
The minutes record the motions as "carried" but do not include roll-call tallies for these routine items.
