The Heard County Board of Commissioners on Jan. 16 reappointed a slate of county officials for 2024 during its regular meeting.
Chairman Lee Boone recommended Katrina Billingsley be reappointed county clerk; Commissioner David Walls moved and Commissioner James Perry seconded the motion, which passed unanimously. The board likewise reappointed Felicia Adams and Susanne Palmer as deputy clerks to serve when the county clerk is absent.
Commissioner Larry Hammond moved and Commissioner Iris Harris seconded the motion to reappoint James Perry as vice-chair for 2024; the board voted unanimously in favor. The board also reappointed Michael Hill as county attorney (motion Walls, second Hammond) and reappointed Kim Kimmel as county auditor (motion Perry, second Hammond). Finance Director Felicia Adams told the board she highly recommended Kimmel, who has served as county auditor for 20 years; the board noted Kimmel’s contract fee would remain the same as in 2023 and gave the chairman permission to sign the contract once it has been reviewed by the county attorney.
Finally, the board reappointed Chief Jim Short to the Heard County Board of Health for a four-year term (motion Hammond, second Harris), which passed unanimously.
All reappointments were unanimous among those present. The board did not discuss compensation changes other than the auditor’s contract fee remaining the same as last year. Administrative staff will record the reappointments in official personnel records.
