Dooly County commissioners complete annual reorganization, approve slate of 2003 appointments

The Dooly County Board of Commissioners held its annual reorganization on Jan. 9, 2003, and voted unanimously to set officer positions and county appointments for the year. Chairman Wayne J. West was reaffirmed as chair and A. C. Daniels as vice‑chair; Stephen C. Sanders was listed as County Clerk/Treasurer and John N. Davis as County Attorney.
Clerk Stephen C. Sanders read the roll and presented a series of routine reappointments to county boards. The Board unanimously reappointed members to the Industrial Development Authority, Planning Commission and Recreation Board and named Bank of Dooly and Citizens Bank as official depositories for county funds for 2003. The News‑Observer was designated the county’s legal organ for publishing required notices.
The commissioners also confirmed a slate of departmental liaisons and representatives to outside bodies, including Commissioner Charles Anderson as the county’s civil defense representative and Commissioner Harry Ward to the Board of Health. Minutes from the prior meeting were read and approved by unanimous vote.
The reorganization set the administrative framework for the year’s business, including a schedule of regular meetings and committee assignments that the board used in subsequent sessions for agenda action and follow up.
