Dooly County elects A.C. Daniels chair, confirms 2007 county appointments

At its Jan. 4 meeting the Dooly County Board of Commissioners elected A. C. Daniels chairman, named Terrell Hudson vice chairman and approved a slate of 2007 county officials including Administrator Stephen C. Sanders and Clerk Janet P. Joiner.
The Dooly County Board of Commissioners completed its annual reorganization Jan. 4, electing Commissioner A. C. Daniels as chairman and Commissioner Terrell Hudson as vice chairman for 2007.
The Board voted on nominations from the floor; Daniels received three votes to Charles Anderson’s two in the chairman’s election. Hudson was elected vice chairman by unanimous vote after Ward nominated him.
The panel also confirmed the county’s principal appointments for the year. The Board unanimously approved Stephen C. Sanders as county administrator and Janet P. Joiner as county clerk. The Board also confirmed James C. Lockerman as chief tax appraiser, Tommy Watson Jr. as road superintendent, Charles E. Ellis as county extension director and John N. Davis as county attorney.
Administrator Sanders told commissioners the appointments were recommended to ensure continuity as the county begins projects programmed for 2007.
The Board additionally designated the Bank of Dooly, RBC Centura and State Bank & Trust as official depositories for county funds and named The News Observer the county’s legal organ for public notices for 2007.
The Board’s organizational actions set committee and board assignments, including reappointments to advisory bodies. Commissioners reappointed members to the Planning Commission, the Industrial Development Authority and the Middle Flint Regional E‑911 Authority and assigned commissioners to serve as liaisons to local boards and regional meetings.
The Board said the reorganization and appointments allow staff to proceed with planned road and facility projects and to represent Dooly County at the February ACCG legislative conference in Atlanta.
