Dooly County commissioners elect leadership, approve 2010 appointments and county policies

At its Jan. 7 organizational meeting the Dooly County Board of Commissioners elected A. C. Daniels chair and Terrell Hudson vice chair, approved the county’s 2010 appointments and named official depositories and the county legal organ.
The Dooly County Board of Commissioners opened its 2010 schedule Jan. 7 by electing its leadership and approving the county’s operating appointments and administrative housekeeping items.
A. C. Daniels was elected chairman for 2010 by unanimous vote, and Terrell Hudson was chosen as vice chairman by a majority vote of the board. Stephen C. Sanders will continue as county administrator and Brenetta C. Childs was confirmed as county clerk. Other appointments approved unanimously included James C. Lockerman as chief tax appraiser, William NeSmith as county attorney, Tommy Watson as public works director and Chuck Ellis for extension service.
The board also named Bank of Dooly, RBC Centura and State Bank & Trust as official depositories for county funds and designated The News Observer as the county’s legal organ for 2010. Commissioners approved the official employee holiday schedule for the year and confirmed representatives to boards and commissions, including Pat Allen to the River Valley Area Agency on Aging advisory council and Commissioner Harry Ward to the county board of health.
These actions set the county’s administrative team and fiscal contacts for 2010. The board moved into executive session later in the meeting to discuss personnel matters and returned to finish routine business.
