Autauga County Commission approves hires, vehicle purchases and state road agreement; adopts memorial for former commissioner

The Autauga County Commission met March 5, 2024, in Prattville and carried a series of routine administrative and procurement items by unanimous votes, while adopting a resolution honoring former Commissioner James "Jim" Michael Ross.

The board adopted Resolution #2024-13 mourning the death of James "Jim" Michael Ross, who died Feb. 12, 2024, at age 78. The resolution notes Ross represented District Two on the commission from 1996 to 2000, served four years in the United States Marine Corps, studied at Troy University, worked as a private business owner and branch manager for Citizens Bank, and was active in civic organizations including the Autaugaville Lions Club and the Masonic Lodge. The resolution also records Ross's longtime membership at Autaugaville Methodist Church and his support for the Prattville-Autauga Humane Shelter.

On fiscal and personnel matters, the commission approved the minutes of the Feb. 20, 2024 meeting and authorized payment of invoices presented through March 5, 2024.
