Kelloggsville Board approves 2023-24 budget amendments and ratifies three-year KESS contract

The board approved a consent agenda that bundled minutes, personnel actions and routine fiscal items. The motion to approve Consent Agenda items 23-156 through 23-163 was moved by Mrs. Groters and seconded by Ms. Townsend and carried 7-0 after staff review of expenditures. District staff summarized reported balances: General Fund $864,865.66; Food Service $18,158.12; Child Care $0.00; Capital Projects $200,437.83.
In formal action the board approved 2023-24 budget amendments. Mrs. Tanis moved the amendment package, Ms. Sellers seconded, and the board voted 7-0 to adopt the changes as presented.
The board also ratified a three-year labor contract with KESS covering the 2024-25, 2025-26 and 2026-27 school years. The motion was made by Mrs. Groters, seconded by Ms. Rocha, and carried 7-0.
A motion to approve the superintendent evaluation and contract was moved by Mrs. Tanis and seconded by Ms. Townsend; the transcript records the motion and second but does not record a vote or indicate the outcome.
Superintendent Jim Alston used the meeting time to welcome Holly Kleyn and Tammy S. Skinner into their new district roles. During board members’ remarks, several trustees praised colleagues and acknowledged staff recognitions, including a mention that Mrs. Benavidez attended a gun violence prevention conference and received the La’Tatia Steward Award for Advocacy.
President Ward adjourned the meeting at 6:06 p.m. The board noted its next regular meetings for July 22, August 12 and August 26, 2024, with the September meeting set for Sept. 9, 2024.
