Commissioners approve liquor license renewals, holiday courthouse closures and leadership nominations

At their Oct. 29 meeting the Union County Board of Commissioners approved a slate of routine administrative actions, including renewal of multiple 2025 liquor licenses, courthouse holiday closures, a meeting schedule change and leadership nominations.
The board approved renewal applications for the following businesses (motion by Mike Dailey, second by Peggy Ustad; carried): Two Rivers Inc. (retail on‑sale liquor & Sunday sales); Dakota Dunes Country Club, Inc. (retail on‑sale liquor & Sunday sales); TSAF LLC (retail on‑sale liquor & Sunday sales); DDH, LLC (retail on‑sale liquor & Sunday sales); H & H Enterprises (retail wine & cider and package off‑sale liquor); and Cubby’s Inc. (retail wine & cider and package off‑sale liquor).
Separately, the board voted to follow state guidance and close the courthouse for Thanksgiving (Nov. 28–29) and for Christmas (Dec. 23–25). The commissioners also agreed to move the Dec. 24 meeting to Dec. 30 at 8:30 a.m.
For board leadership, Tom Kimmel moved and Mike Dailey seconded the nomination of Kevin Joffer as chairperson at an annual rate of $1,850.00; the motion carried. Kimmel also moved and Dailey seconded the nomination of Mike Dailey as vice chairperson; that motion carried as well.
The minutes additionally readdress several prior personnel and administrative items from Aug. 20 and Sept. 17 meetings (re‑approvals of hires and actions; an estimated debris‑site final cost of $185,000 with a cited county share of 25% = $46,250).
