Kelloggsville Public Schools’ finance staff proposed adopting district credit cards at the Sept. 9 board meeting, describing anticipated operational efficiencies and controls.
Assistant Superintendent of Finance Holly Kleyn said district credit cards are common among school districts and would allow the business office to make immediate purchases while paying statements within 30 days. Benefits she cited included improved cash flow, earning cash-back rewards, reduced paper checks, and streamlined expense tracking. Kleyn said all purchases would follow current internal controls and NEOLA purchase policies; if approved, NEOLA policy language would be updated to allow card use and expense tracking would require monthly receipts and details for each transaction.
Kleyn also noted that credit-card limits and cardholder names would be posted on the district Transparency website and that the system would not replace existing purchase-authority controls. The item was presented as a proposal; no final board action was recorded on Sept. 9.
