District staff presented a proposal to purchase a 10‑passenger passenger van from Hoekstra Transportation, saying the vehicle is needed to transport smaller sports teams and students experiencing homelessness.
Kristin Nickelson told the board that Hoekstra is currently the only dealership offering a 10‑passenger van that has been updated for school use to meet legal requirements. She said the district expects the van to be ready in about 30 days if purchased and that a previously approved order for two additional vans was canceled by the manufacturer (Ford), which may necessitate another request next year.
The proposal was to be placed on the Nov. 11 consent agenda as a consent item for board action; the transcript records it as a presentation and indicates the district will follow typical procurement procedures for school vehicles.
