Board to consider counselor eligibility for teacher tenure

Superintendent Jim Alston reported the Kelloggsville Education Association requested a review of counselor eligibility for tenure. District staff concluded counselors are eligible provided they hold a valid teaching certificate and have been rated “highly qualified” for the past three years. The district listed three staff members as potentially eligible at the conclusion of the 2024–25 school year: Aime Thurber (Central counselor), Lisa VanKampen (Central counselor) and Meredith Bauder (SE counselor).
The proposal was placed on the Nov. 25 agenda as a consent item for further processing; the board did not record a separate final decision on tenure during this meeting.
