Union County approves $500,000 transfer for courthouse improvements and multiple contingency moves

Union County commissioners on Dec. 30 approved a set of budget moves that shift operating and capital funds across county accounts, including a $500,000 transfer to an Assigned Courthouse Improvement Fund.
The board voted to transfer $500,000 from surplus cash to the Assigned Courthouse Improvement Fund and approved contingency transfers totaling $232,525 to several departments: $113,800 to Court, $25,675 to the Auditor, $5,100 to Veterans Service Office, $45,550 to the Sheriff, $16,000 to 911, $13,000 to Flood Control, $7,500 to Extension, and $5,900 to 24/7 services. Commissioners also approved an $11,400 automatic supplement to the Sheriff and a budgeted transfer of $100,000 from the General Fund to the 911 budget.
The board approved claims and payroll as presented. Auditor read multiple line items and vendor invoices into the record, including payroll listings (BW payroll $97,010.67; CH payroll $173,866.06) and a range of vendor payments. The board carried motions to accept the audited claims and draw warrants.
Commissioners also approved a cash movement from the General Fund to the Highway Fund of $102,508.03 from a Bridge Replacement Capital Outlay Accumulation account.
The actions were recorded as motions, each carried by the board during the public meeting. The board adjourned until Jan. 7, 2025.
