The Kelloggsville Board of Education met on Jan. 13, 2025, at the Board of Education Center and unanimously approved its consent agenda and a mid‑year evaluation of Superintendent Jim Alston.
The meeting was called to order at 5:33 p.m. by President Ward, and the board recited the Pledge of Allegiance with visitors in attendance. Superintendent Jim Alston listed upcoming regular meetings and noted community events later that evening, including a band concert and a middle school basketball game.
Board members moved quickly to routine business. Mrs. Groters moved to approve Consent Agenda items 24‑73 through 24‑76 — covering the Nov. 25, 2024 minutes, personnel and expenditure reports, and NEOLA policy updates — and Ms. Sellers seconded. The motion carried unanimously (Yeas: 7, Nays: 0).
On a separate motion, Mrs. Tanis moved to approve the Mid‑Year Superintendent Evaluation as presented; Ms. Sellers seconded and the board approved that motion unanimously as well (Yeas: 7, Nays: 0).
Superintendent Alston formally recognized Ms. Deb Sellers "for her outstanding dedication and many years of service as a valued member of the Kelloggsville Board of Education," thanking her for significant contributions to the district. The High School Choir, led by choir teacher Mr. Forsleff, performed holiday carols earlier in the meeting; several board members and student representatives praised the choir.
Student Board Representatives Myrece Moore and Serena Preciado both thanked Ms. Sellers and wished the community a Merry Christmas. Board members also offered personal remarks: Ms. Sellers said she had loved being part of Kelloggsville; Mrs. Tanis credited Ms. Sellers with encouraging her to join the board; Mrs. Reidzans, Ms. Rocha, Ms. Townsend, Mrs. Groters and Mrs. Ward each thanked Sellers for her service and extended holiday wishes.
President Ward adjourned the meeting at 5:59 p.m. Minutes were recorded by Tammy S. Skinner and signed by Crystal Reidzans, Secretary. No ordinances or resolutions were introduced or adopted beyond the motions recorded above, and no public policy debates or votes beyond the two unanimous motions were held.
