Board hears proposal for Oct. 1–3, 2025 6th‑grade camp and sets 2026–27 graduation dates for later approval

At the Feb. 10 meeting presenters proposed Oct. 1–3, 2025 for the KMS 6th‑grade camp (day-camp format at Camp Manitou‑Lin) and proposed 2025–26 and 2026–27 graduation dates; both proposals were placed on the Feb. 24 consent agenda for formal approval.
Board members heard presentations on two scheduling proposals at the Feb. 10, 2025 meeting.
Mrs. Lanser presented possible dates for the KMS 6th‑grade fall camp in 2025 and recommended Oct. 1–3, 2025, one week later than 2024 because September dates were unavailable. The proposal noted Camp Manitou‑Lin will host the middle‑school day camp again; staff reported the format increased participation last year, with about 130 students. Mrs. Lanser thanked the board for its support in making the opportunity available.
Separately, Mr. Gentile presented graduation dates for Kelloggsville High School and 54th Street Academy for the 2025–26 and 2026–27 school years. Proposed dates are: • 2025–26 — KHS: Thursday, May 14, 2026 (Formsma Field); 54th Street Academy: Wednesday, May 20, 2026 (High School Auditorium). • 2026–27 — KHS: Thursday, May 13, 2027 (Formsma Field); 54th Street Academy: Wednesday, May 19, 2027 (High School Auditorium).
Both the camp dates and the graduation dates were presented for scheduling and will appear as consent items on the Feb. 24, 2025 board agenda; no board approval was recorded at the Feb. 10 meeting.
Next steps: the proposals will be included as consent items for routine approval at the Feb. 24 meeting unless board members request further discussion or changes.
