Kelloggsville board recognizes staff and students; reports on Close Up trip and NWEA rewards

Close Up Advisors David Salminen and Taylor Gardiner and a student spoke about their recent Close Up trip to Washington, D.C. The group described museum visits, daily workshops with students from other districts and a mock congress exercise designed to teach respectful debate and civic engagement skills.
Mr. Chad Morrow provided an overview of the NWEA Rewards program. According to the minutes, 154 students qualified for a trip to Celebration Cinema by achieving personal-best benchmarks and improving their scores from fall to spring in at least two of the three NWEA assessments. Mr. Morrow said participation and effort were notably higher than typical and that staff hope to continue similar incentives.
