Kelloggsville schedules Community Celebration, reviews field trips and recaps new-staff orientation

Kelloggsville, Mich. — School officials told the Kelloggsville Board of Education about several upcoming and recent events, including a community celebration set for Sept. 12, a field-trip package slated for the consent agenda, and the August new-employee orientation.
Director of Instruction Chad Morrow said the Kelloggsville Community Celebration is scheduled for Friday, Sept. 12, 2025, from 4:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in front of Kelloggsville Middle School. He said more than 20 groups will participate and the evening will conclude with the Rockets varsity football team hosting Fruitport; students wearing a "Be Nice" shirt will receive free admission to that game.
Morrow also reviewed a district list of field trips for the 2025-26 school year, noting it includes trips located both within and beyond a 50-mile radius of the district and many local classroom-extension outings. He said the proposal will be placed on the Sept. 22, 2025 agenda as a consent item.
Assistant Superintendent Eric Alcorn summarized the new-staff orientation held Aug. 22 (7:30 a.m. to noon). The session covered sick-leave policies, district priorities and the staff-evaluation process; new instructional staff met their union representatives and were formally welcomed to the district.
Superintendent James Alston introduced the student board representatives who will serve during the 2025-26 year. Cameron Clark, the junior representative, said, "school and band are both going well so far." Serena Preciado, the senior representative, said she had a good summer and is looking forward to the Community Celebration; she noted the bands first competition is Saturday in Rockford.
Board members welcomed the students and offered brief remarks on activities around the district, including praise for the football team and improvements to a parking lot.
The meeting adjourned at 6:34 p.m.
