TowerPinkster presents facilities assessment; board told buildings are in 'very good condition' and bond committee may be considered

Tom Kaywood of TowerPinkster presented a comprehensive facilities assessment to the Kelloggsville Board of Education during its regular meeting, reporting that district buildings compared favorably to a newly constructed‑school benchmark.

"Overall, the findings indicate that our buildings are in very good condition," Kaywood said, outlining reviews of site conditions, building envelopes, interior finishes, safety and security systems, mechanical and electrical infrastructure, parking lots and technology readiness.

The assessment team compared current conditions to the district's prior evaluation from 12 years ago and identified both essential needs and aspirational improvements. Kaywood told the board the report includes detailed analyses for each building and highlighted areas where the district may need investment to meet contemporary standards.

The consultant recommended the district consider next steps in planning, including forming a bond committee made up of board members, staff and parents to guide development of a long‑term facilities master plan and potential funding initiatives. The minutes note the district leadership will determine direction on whether to move forward with such planning.

The board did not take formal action on the assessment at this meeting. The presentation was framed as information for district leadership to use in developing a master plan and any subsequent fiscal proposals.
