The Kelloggsville Board of Education met on Jan. 12, 2026, at the Board of Education Center and approved its consent agenda and the mid‑year evaluation for Superintendent James Alston.
President Ward called the meeting to order at 5:32 p.m. and the board recited the Pledge of Allegiance. The board announced its upcoming regular meetings for Jan. 12 (organizational), Jan. 26, Feb. 9 and Feb. 23 at the Board of Education Center.
Under the Consent Agenda, board member Ms. Rocha moved and board member Mr. Flores‑Garcia seconded approval of items 25‑66 (minutes), 25‑67 (personnel report) and 25‑68 (expenditure report). Ericka Scott reviewed the expenditures: General Fund $251,200.80; Food Service $2,544.59; Child Care $0.00; Capital Projects $0.00. The vote was recorded as Yeas 5, Nays 0; the motion carried.
On Action A, board member Mr. Flores‑Garcia moved and Ms. Rocha seconded approval of the mid‑year evaluation for Superintendent James Alston. The board voted Yeas 6, Nays 0; the motion carried.
Assistant Superintendent Eric Alcorn announced employee recognitions and said each selected staff member would receive a $100 Amazon gift card and a certificate from the board. Those named for Rocket Recognition included Liza DeJesus‑Cruz (Instructional Support), Grace Morris (Southeast Elementary teacher), Erin Sokol (West Elementary teacher) and Malissie Robinson (KHS counselor). The Kelloggsville High School choir performed holiday carols under the direction of choir teacher Zachary Forsleff.
Student Board Representative Cameron Clark congratulated staff on their awards and said he looked forward to a student lunch with Superintendent Alston to discuss district matters; Serena Preciado echoed those remarks and said she was excited about the band concert.
Several board members — Mrs. Reidzans, Ms. Rocha, Ms. Townsend, Mrs. Tanis, Mr. Flores‑Garcia and President Ward — offered brief closing remarks, congratulating staff and wishing students and staff a safe holiday break. Superintendent James Alston thanked the choir and staff and specifically thanked Assistant Superintendent of Finance Holly Kleyn for her work and wished her well in her new job.
President Ward adjourned the meeting at 6:14 p.m. The board’s next regularly scheduled meetings are Jan. 26, Feb. 9 and Feb. 23 at the Board of Education Center.
