The Pondera County Board of Commissioners approved several airport-related funding and acquisition actions in late August 2024, including a substantial FAA drawdown and local purchases and leases.
On Aug. 28 the board approved Drawdown #7 for the Federal Aviation Administration project at Pondera County Airport for $1,774,756.66; minutes record the county match requirement at 10% ($177,475.66). The drawdown was moved and seconded and recorded as carried.
Separately the county authorized purchase of a used 2012 communications trailer from Flathead County for $143,937 including accessories, with the county responsible for $25,000 paid from the Capital fund; the motion was recorded as carried. The minutes also record approval to purchase 1.37 acres of vacant land from Peter & Judy Ellis to support the Conrad Airport for $5,000 (Capital Improvement fund) and approval of a Valier Airport hangar lease with Turk Cobell for Unit D2 at $400 per year.
These actions form part of the county’s ongoing airport improvement and operations work: the FAA drawdown provides large-scale project funding while the local purchases and leases address airport property and equipment needs. The minutes do not record public comment related to these items.
