Chair Mark Albertson opened a public hearing on the Walker petition for a road vacation at 10:03 a.m. on July 1. County Counsel Paige Sully told the board she was prepared to write the Order and Findings in the matter but noted there was a letter of objection asserting the vacation would landlock a private parcel.
Sully said she did not see on the materials before the board where the parcel would be landlocked and cautioned the commissioners not to decide based on their own knowledge of the property map. Vice-Chair Barry Shullanberger observed that the lots in question had street access and appeared of limited value. The commissioners recessed the hearing at 10:35 a.m. for further discussion the next day rather than issuing an immediate decision.
No formal ruling was made during the work session and the matter remains scheduled for follow-up at a subsequent meeting.
