Lake County Treasurer Melanie Lasley told the board during the June 17 work session that two budget adjustments are needed to cover higher-than-expected personnel costs. Lasley said the Building Department’s unemployment expense exceeded projections and that, thanks to savings from recent Landfill changes, the county expects to need about $20,000 from the General Fund to cover the shortfall.
Lasley also reported additional personnel expenses in the Marine Fund resulting from overtime and training and recommended adding $10,000 to that fund. Both items were presented for action in the board’s Regular Session; the work session did not include a formal vote.
Lasley characterized overall departmental trends as moving in the right direction, saying the county is “where they anticipated they would be.” The board recorded no public comment on the budget adjustments; further fiscal detail and any formal motions will be part of the Regular Session.
