Christmas Valley water and library move forward as SHN service agreements approved

The Lake County Board of Commissioners approved two separate service agreements with consulting firm SHN on April 9 that clear the way for infrastructure work in Christmas Valley.
Darryl Anderson asked the board to sign a previously circulated SHN contract for a $2,500,000 water project to replace aged water pipes and add infrastructure. Commissioner James Williams said the expense is covered by grant funding and does not impose direct costs on the county. Williams moved to approve the service contract and Vice-Chair Barry Shullanberger seconded; the motion carried unanimously.
Commissioner Williams presented a similar SHN agreement for the Christmas Valley Library, saying approval would allow the Library District to hold community meetings to discuss the project. The board approved that agreement as well.
The commissioners noted both contracts were standard professional-service agreements and emphasized the work is grant-funded. The next step for the water project is for grant-funded work to proceed under the SHN scope; the library agreement enables community outreach and design planning by the Library District.
